Abstract

Treatment of fronds during the period when the oil palm plants are producing must be carried out so that the plants can produce optimally. Optimal germination conditions can maintain photosynthesis, do not make pest nests, not as a place for ripe fruit to be snagged and produce fresh fruit bunches that are too ripe. Snagging of ripe fruit and overripe fresh fruit bunches are losses that must be minimized. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of normal pruning, over pruning and under pruning on fruit production in oil palm plantations. This research was conducted in April - June 2022 at PT Sawindo Kencana, West Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands Province. The method used in this research is observation and literature study. Observations were made by observing directly in the field related to the implementation of IPD on fruit losses. The results of this study indicate that production losses under standard pruning conditions averaged 0.6 kg/ha, under pruning conditions averaged production losses of 12.9 kg/ha, and over pruning conditions pruning production losses in the form of stressed plants so that they do not produce fresh fruit bunches.
