Abstract

Cow manure and ferns (Nephrolepis biserrata) could be decomposed with microorganisms and it be used as liquid organic fertilizer. Liquid organic fertilizer has the advantages of enriching the soil, adding organic matter, improving the physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil, and adding nutrients to plants. Cow manure and ferns can be used as liquid organic fertilizer because they are easily and widely available, and can increase the availability of nutrients in plants. The objectives of this experiment were to know the process of making liquid organic fertilizer, to obtain the alternative material for liquid organic fertilizer from Nephrolepis biserrata, and to know the highest nutrient of liquid organic fertilizer from cow manure and Nephrolepis biserrata. This research conducted at Teaching Farm II Politeknik Kelapa Sawit Citra Widya Edukasi Bekasi, from January until August 2022. The method of this research is descriptive, with 5 treatments and 3 replication.  The treatments are P0 (cow manure), P1 (1 kg cow manure + 0,25 kg Nephrolepis biserrata), P2 (1 kg cow manure + 0,5 kg Nephrolepis biserrata), P3 (1 kg cow manure + 0,75 kg Nephrolepis biserrata) dan P4 (1 kg cow manure + 1 kg Nephrolepis biserrata). The result showed that cow manure and ferns could be as alternative material for liquid organic fertilizer. The highest nutrient content was found in P4 treatment are 1 kg cow manure + 1 kg Nephrolepis biserrata, with 0,05% N, 0,01% P, 0,20% K, and 2,20% C/N ratio.
