Abstract

Fertilization in oil palm nurseries generally uses inorganic chemical fertilizers. The impact of using inorganic fertilizers results in loss of nutrients and organic material in the root area, compaction and subsidence of the soil surface. Adding organic matter to the soil is useful for increasing soil fertility and empowering soil biological resources to increase soil fertility. The aim of the research is to determine the growth response of oil palm seedlings and obtain the correct dose of liquid organic fertilizer for the growth of oil palm seedlings starting at 5 months of age during the main nursery period. This research was conducted at the Citra Widya Edukasi Palm Oil Polytechnic Experimental Plantation II, Bekasi Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. This research was carried out from December 2023 – July 2024. This research used experimental methods. The design used was a one factorial randomized block design with treatments consisting of control (A), 15:15:15 NPK fertilizer (B), 250 cc liquid organic fertilizer (C), 500 cc liquid organic fertilizer (D), organic fertilizer liquid 750 cc (E), and liquid organic fertilizer 1000 cc (F). The parameters observed were seed height (cm), seed diameter (cm), number of midribs, leaf area (cm2), and number of stomata. Providing liquid organic fertilizer provided a real response to plant height, stem diameter, number of fronds, leaf area index and number of stomata. Providing 1000 cc/2 weeks of liquid organic fertilizer, starting at 5 months of seedling age, can provide good growth in the main nursery for 5 months.
